General Introduction
Chemical Definition: Chlorinated-Polyethylene
Abbreviation: CPE/CM
Formula:{-CH2-CHCl-}n
Chlorinated-Polyethylene Properties
Chlorinated-Polyethylene is odorless nontoxic and white or pale yellow powder with excellent resistance to weathering or age ozone chemicals, and good resistance to oil or flame.
Chlorinated-Polyethylene offers excellent flexibility and resistance to ignition, chemicals, heat, low temperatures and weathering at a low overall system cost.
Chlorinated-Polyethylene can be used as a base polymer or as an additive to polyvinyl chloride (PVC), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), styrene acrylonitrile (SAN), high density polyethylene (HDPE), and polypropylene (PP) for a wide range of applications spanning both thermoplastic and thermoset chemistries.

Chlorinated-Polyethylene Rubber Application
- I.Chlorinated-Polyethylene application in Automotive Hose and Tube
Chlorinated-Polyethylene are used in automotive "rubber" applications including power steering, engine oil cooler, and transmission oil cooler hoses; fuel hose covers; vacuum and emission tubing; and in automotive air management system "air ducts".
Chlorinated-Polyethylene is designed to accept higher levels of filler and oil than traditional CM grades, while maintaining excellent physical properties.
- II.Chlorinated-Polyethylene application in Building and Construction (Vinyl Impact Modification)
Chlorinated-Polyethylene resins are high performing, cost effective, impact modifiers in rigid PVC applications, especially window profiles, siding and pipe.
Chlorinated-Polyethylene resins offer excellent low temperature properties, high filler level acceptance, resistance to weathering and excellent compatibility with a broad range of formulation ingredients.
Chlorinated-Polyethylene resins are also used as modifiers for ABS, SAN, HDPE, and PP, adding both impact strength and ignition resistance.
- III.Chlorinated-Polyethylene application in Other Applications
Industrial Hoses
Miscellaneous Rubber Goods
Ignition Resistant ABS Compounds
Flexible Thermoplastic Sheeting
